Mystic Sushi
About This Spot
Stepping into Mystic Sushi in Uvita feels like entering a calm yet vibrant corner where the rhythm of the Pacific coast blends effortlessly with refined flavors. Tucked just a few minutes south of the old Banco Nacional, this spot hums with a relaxed energy — the kind that invites you to slow down and savor the simple joy of sharing good food in good company. The air here carries a subtle saltiness from the nearby ocean, and the space strikes a welcoming balance between casual comfort and thoughtful detail.
Here, sushi isn’t just about the familiar—there’s a sense of playful discovery woven into the menu. While the classic rolls and nigiri offer freshness you can trust, there are local twists that feel like a nod to the region’s rich flavors, like a roll that marries plantain with tuna or unexpected layers of passionfruit in a smoothie that brightens the palate. Each bite feels carefully considered yet never pretentious, appealing both to those new to sushi and seasoned diners eager for a fresh take on the classics.
The pace of the experience tends to be unhurried, encouraging shared moments around the table whether you’re with friends, family, or simply enjoying a quiet meal. The service completes the picture: attentive without being overbearing, familiar with the menu’s nuances and happy to guide you toward something memorable.
Mystic Sushi embodies a subtle, lived-in charm that resonates with locals and visitors alike. It’s a place where returning feels natural, not just because of the quality, but because of the warmth woven into the everyday details — conversations floating over the counter, a welcoming nod from the team, and the gentle hum of a community that knows this little sushi haven as one of its own.

Delicious spot ! Fairly pricey but the quality is high. Recommended to us by some friends that live nearby. Lots of options including some local twists on classic rolls and nice ambience.

Thanks, George for a wonderful dining experience! Sushi was delicious and the To-Go Sushi was given excellent reviews too. Beautiful place

Been to many sushi spots in CR. This one does it best! Always good service and the rolls are fresh and tasty. Been back many times now and made it our sushi spot when we're in Uvita.

We've eaten here twice now. Very tasty sushi! We had salmon nigiri, the shiitake rolls, avocado rolls and tikko roll. All very good! Shiitake and tikko rolls taste almost identical so maybe just get one or the other. My husband was worried the avocado roll would be an avocado overload but it was just the right amount and we ordered a second one! The fish and avocado were both very fresh. Also thought the wasabi being shaped like a die was super cute. I do wish they had some options with other fish like hamachi and more without cream cheese. We also had the passion fruit smoothie which was crazy delicious and refreshing!! The wait staff are very friendly and helpful and the cashier had great english. It's a really neat setting with mood lighting and good music. It's also cooler with a cross breeze and ceiling fans and is outside on a covered deck. The prices are very good for sushi (we're coming the california where it's expensive though so I'd say the prices are similar to Japan and more expensive than Mexico). Not sure if the name changed but the sign in the restaurant only says SUSHI not Mystic Sushi. Plenty of parking in front. I've eaten sushi around the world from Japan to Ireland to Mexico and the quality here is above average. Enjoy!

A very large choice of sushi, decent prices and huge portions, always fresh. Great to visit with friends and family, lovely service. When I am craving sushi in Uvita, I come here.

Very delicious sushi! I got the sunset roll with no tuna, no sesame seeds, and no eel sauce as well as a shiitake roll. Plaintain on sushi is such a unique thing and very good! I also enjoyed the veggie gyoza, although I wish they could come steamed. I got a strawberry daiquiri as well although it had sour mix or something citrus-y in it that I wasn't expecting and I don't like citrus nor expect that in a daiquiri, so that was a little upsetting. The food was so good it was okay my drink was weird, and if I liked citrus it would have been great. Thank you!
